What a real commercial scope includes

A proper scope separates what happens every visit from what happens periodically.

• Every visit: trash and recycling, restrooms, high-touch disinfection, vacuuming, spot-cleaning glass, break room surfaces, floor damp-mopping.
• Weekly: detail dusting, baseboards, partition walls, appliance interiors, entry glass.
• Monthly / quarterly: high dusting, vents and light fixtures, floor machine work, upholstery and grout attention.
• Annually: deep restorative floor care and full interior detail.

Janitorial vs. commercial vs. residential

Janitorial usually means the recurring day-to-day upkeep (trash, restrooms, floors). Commercial cleaning is the umbrella that also includes project work — post-construction, deep cleans, disinfection. Residential cleaning is unscoped by comparison and carries no insurance, compliance or documentation obligations toward a landlord, a tenant or a health inspector.

What you should ask any provider

If a company cannot answer these in writing, you are buying a promise, not a service.

• Is the scope written per area, with frequencies?
• Are crews background-checked, trained and W-2 or properly covered?
• What are the liability and workers' comp limits?
• Who inspects the work, how often, and do I see the report?
• What is the response time when something is missed?
